Drawing Excellence and Sequentially Progressive Modules
Portrait Drawing
Students develop proficiency in drawing the human form from life using the sight-size method with particular concern for accuracy in line and form, chiaroscuro, and gesture with an organic unity devoid of superfluous details and lastly rendering the form.
Drawings are done in pencil and charcoal and chalks. Considerations of establishing the pose, lighting the figure and composition will be discussed.
The average figure pose is two weeks, long enough to allow ample time for guidance as students develop their understanding of these issues.
